This beautiful and unique production takes you into the extraordinary imagination of Oscar Wilde with a dynamic interpretation of his collection of short tales, wherein a cold – hearted princess steals your heart, tantalising mermaids tempt your soul away, and rowdy witches drag you into the frenzy of the dance.
Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s description of tents in a royal garden in one of his fairy tales, the design offers an evocative temporary stage setting for a troupe of travelling players. The fabric walls and canopy are designed to spark the imagination of the audience with images and associations shifting to suit the story played for example; the sails of a fishing boat, petals of a rose unfurling or blood soaked bandages.
