The Rimers of Eldritch

Once a thriving mining town, Eldritch, Missouri has fallen on hard times. An old loner approaches a young girl in the woods. A witness shoots him dead. Gossip runs riot in the community as every detail of the case is examined in court and debated on the streets of Eldritch.

Lanford Wilson’s early play is a turning point in American drama. His verbatim-style writing sets the stage for plays such as The Laramie Project and recalls Bertolt Brecht’s model for epic theatre. The Street Scene, representing conflicting voices from a community in crisis.

“Rimers looked, sounded and felt new and exciting in the AADA context. The reports have been glowing, the students have been challenged well in varying ways, and their skills have grown accordingly.” Andrew Davidson, Head of AADA
