Sculptural Centrepiece in Store Design of the Year

Shoes of Prey concept store wins Store Design of the Year announced in Paris on Wednesday night at the 2013 World Retail Awards, featuring the Stukel Stone Carnivorous Flower sculptural centrepiece.

The 25m2 store was the only Australian finalist in the <1,200m2 category and was up against a Karl Lagerfeld concept store in Paris and a Puma flagship store in Osaka.

The sculpture is a cluster of exotic blooms made from shoes, attention grabbing in their rotated organisational composition. With cues for the colour and form taken from carnivorous plants, sixty custom high-heels were designed using the Shoes of Prey online software. Johannes Seger of MTech Solutions masterfully assembled the flowers and crafted their custom fixings and steel stalks.

The sculpture can be seen in store, women’s shoes section, Level 4 David Jones’ Sydney City Store.
